Tabiki Rum

A rum lost to history, recreated in the present..

Re-introduction

Tabiki Rum is based on the production principles of local Surinamese Rum in the 18th and 19th century. Before the introduction of oak aging, Rum was stored in barrels and containers of local wood.

We at Spirits of the Amazon have reintroduced this specific aging proces, utilizing one specific type of local wood, while adding nothing else but base spirit.

Origin

Two friends, united by their love for Spirits and deep respect for the history and natural beauty of Suriname, set off to find a woodspecies that would rival the complexity of Oak.
This journey led them to uncover a hidden gem: a 19th-century Rum recipe. Motivated by this discovery, they set out to revive the legacy of rum production in Suriname, founding Spirits of the Amazon.
Their mission was not just to create a Rum, but to handcraft a story in every bottle, connecting you to the heart of the Amazon with each sip.

History of Rum

Following the abolition of slavery in 1863, Suriname’s sugar cane production—and the substantial rum industry it supported—saw a decline. Rum, a pivotal product of our country, was crafted from nearly exclusively natural ingredients, incorporating some unique elements found only in the Amazon.

Today, we seek to bring this rich heritage back to life, combining traditional methods with modern sustainability practices. Our rum is a bridge between past and present, offering a taste of history with every pour.

Every sip of Tabiki Rum narrates a distinct story, inviting you on a sensory journey through flavors and aromas of the past.
